Christmas is Coming . . .

. . . . and I'm not too in the mood for it to be here. Oh well it could always be worse! I am truly grateful that we have all that we have.

Just a little post

It is getting close to Halloween. Just one more day!  We don't usually have any trick or treaters, but we do buy some candy, for just in case.  We have been here almost 18 years, and have had 2 trick or treaters in all that time. It was a neighbor and her son. LOL  Now, it would be pretty hard for the trick or treaters to get to the front door.  We have an electronic gate that you have to know the code to get into.

We will be leaving soon to go on a short vacation.  I know that I sure do need it. We do keep an eye on my MIL, Mom. She is 81 and lives alone. Her sister had knee replacement surgery earlier this year and stayed for 6 weeks with Mom. That was fun! LOL We had 2 of them to look after and take on errands and such.  Aunt Helen is mom's little sister. Well, younger sister. LOL  Helen will be coming to stay at Mom's while w go on our get-away. We will also have our daughter to call and check on them.  Our daughter is also our pet sitter.  She is who we trust our fur babies with.

Nothing real exciting has been happening around here.

Oh, I have started knitting a Christmas stocking. It is green and white. I couldn't find the red yarn, but will look for it when I get ready for the next one.  I want to make a red and white one and a red and green one.  I would dearly love to be able to make one for each of our grandchildren, but 15 stockings is a lot of knitting!

I hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween!

Homemade Instant Oatmeal Packets

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/10/the-secret-to-making-homemade-instant-oatmeal-packets.html#more-10525

I have been doing this for years. These turn out as good or better than the store bought ones. And you can add whatever you want.
Dried Fruit
Chopped nuts
Brown Sugar
Cinnamon

Whatever you want. You are only limited by your imagination.  I have some banana chips that I am planning on putting through the blender and adding that to my oatmeal packets. I love bananas.  I may try to powder them, that way, I can also add that to my smoothies.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Let's not forget that this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Your own birthday is a good reminder to have your mammogram done.  None of us like it, but it is something we all need to have done. Especially if you have a family history of breast cancer.

I hope and pray that each and every one of you that read this, will call and get an appointment to have your mammogram done.
God bless each of you!

61st Birthday

I can not believe that it has been this long since I last posted on here. Time flies as I get older.  Yes, today is my 61st birthday. It is so hard to believe that I am this age.  I don't feel it.

My dear sweet husband is taking me on a 5 day cruise for our birthdays. His is next month, toward the end of the month. So when we go it should be right in the middle of mine and his birthdays.  But for Valentine's day next year, we are going on a 10 day cruise.  I can't wait to see what I get for our 25th anniversary in a little over 2 years!  He always gives great gifts!  I'm not an expensive jewelry girl, so I get cruises and cars for my birthdays.  Not every year though!  LOL  We aren't rich or anything like that. We have to save up for everything.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.  I am planning on having one.  God bless you all!

Crocheted coasters

Here is an example of the crocheted coasters that I did last year. They are fast and easy to do.

Sunday Sit down

Today is the day of rest.  And that is what I am doing. =)  OK, so I'm really playing on the computer and looking up recipes for bread in my bread machine. I found an awesome site for all types of Automatic Bread Machine (ABM) recipes.  I did copy and save some of my favorites.

http://www.breadmachinedigest.com/recipes/

If you like making your own bread, this is an awesome site. It also has some manuals for different bread machines.  It is one of my favorites right now.
